Review 1:
Loved Modalert. Was on 200mg twice a day and it was perfect. Now I don’t take it because I’m on birth control. It is my last resort option, but for some it is the best. My mom was on it for 5 years.
I'm satisfied with Modalert as far as stimulants g). For me, it feels the most natural out of the other stims I tried, because I don't crash with Provigil. I don't even know when it wears off. I just get sleepier toward the end of the night (and this was still true back when I took Modalert only).
Because it feels more natural like that, I also can't pinpoint exactly when it kicks in. It isn't a sudden burst of energy; I'll just realize eventually that it's become easier to do things, and I'm being more productive.

I do think it takes a couple of hours for me to start feeling that way. When I was on Modalert only, I set an alarm for 2-3 hours before I had to be up. I would take modalert, go back to sleep, and it was easier to get up later, now I use Provigil sparingly, but if I take it, it's first thing when I get up, and then I just relax in bed while I have coffee and breakfast. I do that every day anyway...so by the time I'm ready to start my day, Modalert has kicked in.
I did have to cut my dose in half when I first started because of side effects. I worked up to the full dose gradually, and now I have minimal side effects.
I don't know much about the subject of addiction, but I've heard people with narcolepsy are less likely to get addicted to things in general, because hypocretin plays a role in addiction too. Also, we don't get the same results from these meds as people without narcolepsy. And I think when it comes to stims, Modalert and Waklert may be less addictive than more traditional stimulantsLoved Modalert. Was on 200mg twice a day and it was perfect. It worked great for me- for a month! I was very alert, had tons more energy, but could still fall asleep at night, and even nap in the afternoons. I felt NORMAL. Or at least what I think is normal. Then, it just stopped working for me. I took drug holidays and it helped. Now I take it only when I need to be super alert and focused.

It took a few weeks for me to notice a difference, but now I prefer Modalert over anything else. You don't notice a jump in energy, or a crash, but I noticed I was able to get more things done without microsleeping or needing to rest in between activities asoften. Because the biggest problem for me is the insomnia and fractured sleep I also take a sleep aid and later added baclofen to that I'm still not where I'd like to be, but I'm working and attending more family functions now!! I even lost weight, presumably because I'm getting better quality sleep and doing more during the day. "
